32 UT Lecturers Brought Home RKI 2025! UT Once Again Proved Its Academic Capabilities

Tangerang Selatan, April 10, 2024 – Universitas Terbuka (UT) has once again achieved a remarkable accomplishment on the national stage. Notably, 10 UT lecturers have been successful as Hosts and another 22 lecturers as Partners in receiving funding from the Indonesian Research Collaboration Progra (RKI) for 2025. This achievement is clear evidence of UT’s commitment to strengthening a research culture and cross-institutional collaboration.

The Riset Kolaborasi Indonesia (RKI) Program itself has been running since 2018, initiated by 4 (four) Legal Entity State Universities (PTNBH): Bandung Institute of Technology, Gadjah Mada University, Airlangga University, and Bogor Agricultural University. Collaboration between these 4 PTNBH has resulted in research activities and synergy between universities in Indonesia to produce quality and impactful research. RKI has grown rapidly with the emergence of similar programs involving 13 (thirteen) other universities in Indonesia. This derivative program of RKI is called the Indonesian Collaboration Research Program (PPKI), which has been running since 2019.

In line with the recent establishment of its PTNBH status, all RKI members are now PTNBH, consisting of 24 (twenty-four) universities. Therefore, the RKI program can become a flagship program that will elevate Indonesian collaboration to the international level. Through this program, lecturers from various universities can collaboratively submit research proposals to obtain competitive research funding.

UT’s success in placing 10 of its lecturers as Hosts is a significant leap, considering that this position demonstrates leadership in initiating and coordinating the implementation of research. Meanwhile, the 22 UT lecturers who passed as Partners will play an active role in carrying out joint research activities with teams from other universities.

The success of these UT lecturers has naturally garnered appreciation from various parties. The Head of the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) UT, Prof. Dra. Dewi Artati Padmo Putri, M.A., Ph.D., expressed her appreciation and pride in this achievement. “Through the Indonesian Collaboration Research, UT lecturers will be able to engage in research with lecturers from other PTNBH and are expected to be able to publish quality articles in reputable international journals,” she said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Center for Scientific Research at LPPM UT, Dr. Mery Noviyanti, S.Si., M.Pd., emphasized the importance of researchers’ involvement in RKI funding, which is certainly beneficial for researchers and UT. “Through RKI, it provides space for UT lecturers to expand and deepen their cooperation networks and broaden their insights,” said Dr. Mery. “In addition, another positive impact is that the target of RKI is to publish in reputable international journals, which will certainly be beneficial in increasing UT’s Key Performance Indicators (IKU) for publications,” said Dr. Mery.

As the only state university in Indonesia that fully implements distance education, UT continues to prove that the open and distance learning model does not reduce academic quality, including in the field of research. The RKI program successfully obtained by UT lecturers not only strengthens the institution’s position in the national research map but also opens up wider collaboration opportunities, not only with universities but also with partners both domestically and internationally.

For the younger generation and prospective students who are looking for a university with high flexibility without sacrificing quality, UT offers an inclusive solution. This achievement in research is one indicator that UT is not only a place to learn but also a center for innovation and scientific collaboration.

With the spirit of “Making Higher Education Open to All,” UT continues to transform as a university of the future that is ready to answer the challenges of the times, not only in learning but also in making real contributions to the advancement of knowledge and society.

UT is not just a place to learn. UT is a center of innovation!
