Universitas Terbuka (UT), as the 45th public university and a pioneer in Open and Distance Learning (ODL) on higher education level in Indonesia, continues to demonstrate its commitment to providing world-class education accessible to all segments of society. UT also actively engages in research, the development of science and technology, and community service to empower and improve the welfare of the nation.


On Thursday, December 19, 2024, UT welcomed a delegation from the Pertamina Foundation, led by Yulius S. Bulo. The visit marked the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between UT and the Pertamina Foundation regarding the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education and institutional collaboration. This partnership spans various areas, including education and teaching, research and development, community service, the implementation of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program, institutional relations, utilization of human resources and infrastructure, and other mutually agreed activities. The agreement was signed by Rahmat Budiman, SS, M.Hum., Ph.D., Vice Rector for Research, Innovation, Partnership, and Business at UT, and Yulius S. Bulo from the Pertamina Foundation.
In his speech, Vice Rector Rahmat Budiman, Ph.D., highlighted that UT and Pertamina share the same vision of reaching all corners of Indonesia to ensure that society benefits from both energy and education. “We hope that with the presence of Pertamina and UT, students’ competency and understanding in various areas will improve,” he stated. According to Rahmat Budiman, Ph.D., this collaboration is a tangible effort to support Indonesia’s Golden Generation 2045 vision.
Yulius S. Bulo emphasized that this partnership is a strategic step for UT and Pertamina to act as agents of development for Indonesia. “Our hope is that with UT’s reach, both domestically and internationally, we can fulfill our duty to provide access to education,” he remarked. The partnership is also expected to produce concrete measures that directly impact the community.
At the conclusion of the event, UT’s Vice Rector stressed the importance of an action plan to ensure that the partnership is quickly implemented. This would enable more Indonesians to access high-quality higher education.

This initiative aims to broaden access to quality education, reach various societal segments, and cultivate an excellent generation towards Golden Indonesia 2045.
