A momentous day unfolded on August 1, 2023, as Universitas Terbuka (UT) paid tribute to the outstanding achievements and unwavering dedication of three exceptional educators in academia. The Professorial Inauguration Ceremony held at Universitas Terbuka Convention Center (UTCC) was a historic occasion that honored Prof. Dr. Tri Dyah Prastiti, M.Pd., Prof. Dr. Ucu Rahayu, M.Sc., and Prof. Dr. Dewi Artati Padmo Putri, M.A., Ph.D., for their remarkable contributions.
The trio, affectionately known as ‘UT Srikandi,” hails from UT’s esteemed Faculty of Teaching and Education (FKIP). The ceremony commenced with a moment of significance, led by UT’s Rector, Prof. Ojat Darojat, M.Bus., Ph.D., followed by reading of the Rector’s Decree, formally recognizing their elevated status as Professors by Prof. Dr. Chanif Nurcholis, M.Sc., the Chairperson of UT Academic Senate.
Each Professor took the stage to deliver a captivating scientific oration. Prof. Tri Dyah eloquently presented “Higher Order Thinking Skills as an Outcome-Based Education Learning Model in Mathematics,” underlining the pivotal role of higher-order thinking in mathematics and its real-world implications.
Prof. Ucu enthralled the audience with her oration, “Science Learning to Improve 21st Century Skills through Distance Education,” emphasizing the importance of modernizing science education through distance learning to cater to the evolving needs of the 21st century.
Meanwhile, Prof. Dewi’s thought-provoking oration, “Accelerating the Process of Adopting Online Learning Innovations Towards Global Digital Transformation in Education Post Covid-19 Pandemic,” delved into the profound impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on reshaping education through distance learning.
The atmosphere was filled with a sense of pride and admiration as the entire UT academic community and families celebrated the achievements of the three distinguished Professors. The addition of these accomplished educators elevated the count of Professors at UT to 26, further enhancing the institution’s academic reputation and standing.
UT remains steadfast in its commitment to nurturing a culture of academic excellence, encouraging all faculty members to strive for greatness in their respective fields. Intending to have 2.5% of its lecturers hold the Professorship, UT remains dedicated to providing accessible, high-quality education to all.
