One Step Closer Towards World Class University, UT Links Up With Polytechnic University of the Philippines 

In the journey of becoming a World Class University (WCU), Universitas Terbuka (UT) continues to expand its international presence. To achieve this, UT is committed to building relationships and partnerships with various institutions from around the world. In line with this commitment, UT has established a partnership marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP). 

The MoU and MoA signing ceremony took place on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, in the Mahoni Room, Wisma 3, Universitas Terbuka, Tangerang Selatan. The event was attended by the Rector of Universitas Terbuka, Prof. Ojat Darojat, M.Bus., Ph.D., Vice Rector for Research, Innovation, Partnership, and Business, Rahmat Budiman, S.S., M.Hum., Ph.D., PUP Vice President for Research, Extension, and Development, Dr. Anna Ruby P. Gapasin, OUS Executive Director, Dr. Guillermo O. Bernabe, OUS-IODE Director, Dr. Rudolf Anthony A. Lacerna, along with other UT and PUP representatives. 

The event continued with the reading of the abstract and was followed by the signing of the MoU and MoA documents between UT and PUP regarding collaboration in the implementation of education, research, and development. The MoU was signed by the Rector of UT, Prof. Ojat Darojat, M.Bus., Ph.D., and the PUP Vice President for Research, Extension, and Development, Dr. Anna Ruby P. Gapasin, witnessed by the Vice Rector for Research, Innovation, Cooperation, and Business, and the OUS-IODE Director. The MoA was signed by UT’s Vice Rector for Research, Innovation, Cooperation, and Business, and the PUP Vice President for Research, Extension, and Development, with the OUS Executive Director and the Head of Centre of Research and Community Service, Prof. Dewi Artati Padmo Putri, M.A., Ph.D., as witnesses. 

In his remarks, the Rector emphasized that the collaboration between UT and PUP aligns with UT’s mission to expand e-learning-based distance learning to an international scope and as a step forward to providing innovative and leading learning services. He also expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration to advance academic aspects in society as the university with the largest number of students in Indonesia. 

Meanwhile, Dr. Anna Ruby P. Gapasin, in her remarks, stated that this collaboration is essential for the development of education in the era of globalization. She also expressed her appreciation to Universitas Terbuka for initiating this partnership and hoped that it would benefit education for all levels of society. 

After a group photo with all parties, the event was concluded with a visit by the PUP delegation to UT’s operational units. With this partnership, it is hoped that UT will continue to shine on the international stage and move one step closer to becoming a World Class University.
