Singapura, 1 September 2025 – The Indonesia Cyber Education Institute (ICE Institute) has once again achieved international recognition, winning an award at the 2025 IIOE Higher Education Digitalisation Pioneer Case Award Ceremony, coordinated by the UNESCO International Centre for Higher Education Innovation (UNESCO ICHEI). The event took place on September 1 at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Center in Singapore as part of the Global Green Development and Healthy Lifestyle Summit, sponsored by the BGI Group.
ICE Institute won an award in Category 1, “Developing Digital and AI Competencies through IIOE Micro-Certification,” for its case titled “Integrating National Level Micro-Credentials and Certified Independent Study by the IIOE Indonesia National Centre.” ICE Institute has successfully created a platform that integrates MOOCs with national educational strategies to provide massively open online courses and certified micro-credential training. To date, 420 instructors have completed the training, 191 participants have received micro-certification, and more than 7,000 participants have been facilitated with online learning.
This award is a significant acknowledgment of the ICE Institute’s commitment to driving digital education transformation and developing artificial intelligence (AI) competencies for students and professionals in Indonesia.
The ICE Institute was represented in Singapore by Dr. Vivi Indra Amelia Nst, S.I.P., M.A., Certification and Partnership Manager of ICE Institute, and Prof. Dr. Paulina Pannen, MLS., Senior Advisor of ICE Institute. Their presence underscored the importance of micro-credentials as a bridge to future competencies in a digital and AI-driven workforce.

Dra. Rahayu Dwi Riyanti, M.A., Director of the ICE Institute, gave a virtual speech, expressing her pride and gratitude:

It proves that our collaborative efforts to integrate micro-credentials at the national level are receiving global recognition. We are committed to continuing to support students, educators, and institutions in acquiring world-class digital and AI competencies.”
The Pioneer Case Award, supported by the BGI Group, this year was themed “IIOE Ecosystem-Driven Promising Practices: Empowering Workforce, Innovation, and Collaboration.”
The selected cases represent leading initiatives in the Global South, focusing on empowering educators, curriculum innovation, and strengthening digital infrastructure. These practices not only serve as actionable models for global higher education stakeholders but also as a source of reference and experience that can be adapted more widely to create higher quality and more equitable higher education.
This achievement by the ICE Institute strengthens Indonesia’s role in leading digital learning innovation and supports the global UNESCO-ICHEI initiative in realizing digital empowerment, innovation, and collaboration in higher education. This is also a victory for Indonesia, proving that the nation is ready to become a major player in digital education transformation on the global stage.
