Dies Natalis 41 UT, Strengthening Quality Education Through Limitless Innovation

Tangerang Selatan, September 4, 2025 – Universitas Terbuka (UT) held its 41st Dies Natalis culmination event on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at the Universitas Terbuka Convention Center (UTCC), South Tangerang. The event, held both in-person and online, celebrated UT’s journey as a pioneer of open and distance higher education in Indonesia. 

The ceremony was attended by key figures from government and partner institutions, including the Banten Governor’s representative, Prof. Dr.rer.pol. Heri Kuswanto (Director of Talent Development), Jenderal TNI (Purn.) Dr. (H.C.) Moeldoko (Chairman of UT Alumni Association), and Dr. Muhamad Hasan Chabibie (Expert Staff to the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology). The presence of these dignitaries highlighted UT’s strong collaborations with government, strategic partners, and stakeholders. 

The event was supported by strategic sponsors, including major banks like BTN, BRI, Mandiri, and BSI, as well as logistics and other industry partners, such as PT Pos Indonesia, JNE, J&T Express, PT Gramedia Printing Group, and PT Telkom Indonesia. This broad support underscores the widespread trust in UT’s mission. 

During the event, UT launched several important innovations, including the MyUT Tendik and MyUT TIPS applications, the implementation of a Work From Anywhere (WFA) program, and the launch of the 41st Dies Book, “Innovation Realizes Quality Education.” UT also published 16 new books authored by its lecturers and researchers. 

UT Rector Prof. Ali Muktiyanto presented the Citra Paramesti award for best individual partners and the Citra Saghatana award for best institutional partners. 

  • Dr. Drs. H. Maidi, S.H., M.M., M.Pd., Mayor of Madiun, received the Citra Paramesti award. He praised UT’s flexible and high-quality education, which provides broad opportunities for the public to continue their studies. He mentioned that Madiun’s civil servants are required to have higher education, and he provides scholarships to over 7,000 people, including inmates, to study at UT. 
  • The Central Sulawesi Provincial Government, represented by the Head of the Central Sulawesi Education Office, Yudiawati V. Windarrusliana, SKM, M.Kes, received the Citra Saghatana award. This was in recognition of their Berani Cerdas program, which provides scholarships to high-achieving students from low-income families. 

Other notable awards were given to partners from the Balangan Regency, West Sulawesi, and the Provinces of Bengkulu and Central Sulawesi for their support in human resource development and lifelong learning. 

In his speech, Rector Ali Muktiyanto emphasized that the Dies Natalis theme, “Innovation Without Limits, Realizing Quality Education,” is a reflection of UT’s spirit to adapt to the times. He noted that UT has proven that it can reach students from all over Indonesia and in 56 countries. “UT has become a symbol of hope for millions who want to pursue higher education without leaving their jobs, families, or homes,” he stated, adding that innovation is not just about technology but also about a way of thinking and serving. 

UT’s commitment also extends to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). The scholarship programs supported by regional government partners, such as Madiun’s and Central Sulawesi’s, are concrete evidence of UT’s role in improving human resource quality and social justice. 

The culmination of the 41st Dies Natalis and National Disporseni 2025 was more than a celebration; it was a reflection of UT’s journey and a strategic step towards the future. With unlimited innovation, UT continues to establish itself as an inclusive, adaptive, and globally impactful public distance university.
