As reported on the Universitas Terbuka (UT) website in 2023 during the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between UT Library and the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia (Perpustakaan Nasional – Perpusnas RI) on March 21, 2023, the UT Library obtained Accreditation from the National Library of RI with an A rating (Excellent) on January 2, 2023. The ceremonial event for the handover of the Accreditation Certificate from Perpusnas RI to UT was held by the Head of Perpusnas RI, represented by the principal secretary of Perpusnas RI, Ms. Ofy Sofiana, M.Hum, to the Rector of Universitas Terbuka, Prof. Ojat Darojat M.Bus., Ph.D., accompanied by the Head of UT Library, Dr. Sri Sediyaningsih, M.Si at UTCC. 

It is an achievement and pride for UT to be at the forefront of University Libraries obtaining such accreditation and achieving an A rating (Excellent). To motivate and encourage other higher education institutions to strive for accreditation, it was announced during the 2024 Coordination Meeting that in 2023, there were 4 work units and 12 higher education institutions under the of Education and Culture (Kementrian Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan – Kemendikbud) that successfully obtained library accreditation following National Library Standards. Therefore, during the Rakor of 2024, certificates will be awarded to 16 libraries within the Kemendikbud and witnessed nationally. The certificates will be presented directly by the Secretary of Kemendikbud, Ir. Suharti, M.A., Ph.D., and the Acting Head of Perpusnas RI, E. Aminudin Azis, on Monday, March 25, 2024, at Hotel Sahid Jakarta to these 16 libraries. Among them, UT’s library accreditation was received by the Head of UT Library and Archives, Dr. Sri Sediyaningsih, M.Si. 

Library Accreditation is a series of formal recognition processes by Perpusnas stating that the library institution has met the requirements for library management activities. Its aim is to increase public trust (library users) in the library’s performance and ensure the consistency of the quality of the library’s activities. Alhamdulillah, UT has achieved that. It takes effort, energy, and intellect, working smart to maintain such achievement. Keep it up UT Library!
