Universitas Terbuka Holds Socialization on the Latest University Key Performance Indicators (IKU)

On Friday, September 22, 2023, Universitas Terbuka (UT) held a hybrid socialization of the latest Key Performance Indicators (IKU) of State Higher Education (PT) in the Cemara Room, second floor of the Multipurpose Building. The activity was opened by the UT Vice Chancellor for Finance, Resources, and General Affairs – Prof. Dr. Ali Muktiyanto, S.E., M.Si.

The program proceeded with a welcoming address from the Rector of UT– Prof. Ojat Darojat, M.Bus., Ph.D. In his remarks, he said that following the meeting of the rectors of state universities (PTN) with the Director General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology (DIKTIRISTEK) regarding significant changes in the IKU of university functional units, Public Service Agencies (BLU), and Legal Entities (BH). Nevertheless, in his view, IKU still describes three major parts: the quality of graduates, lecturers, and the learning curriculum. These three elements are crucial for UT in order to achieve IKU which must be proportionally distributed throughout organizational elements at UT, from the university level down to faculties, study programs, and all levels. He added that UT still has time to achieve its 2023 IKU. UT is continually working to enhance its role as a distance education provider. However, being a State-Owned Legal Entity (PTN-BH) that implements distance education, the Key Performance Indicator parameters for UT have been adjusted to accommodate its character as Distance Learning Higher Education (PTJJ).

In the next session, Franova Herdiyanto as the Sub-Coordinator of Higher Education Data at DIKTIRISTEK presented more details on IKU. He explained that IKU instruments for higher education have been available since 2020. Previously, there were more IKU indicators; now there are only 8 of them. The latest version is expected to provide a better IKU assessment. The latest Regulation by the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kepmendikbudristek) regarding the PT’s IKU is decree number 210/M/2023. The latest IKU is different in title because it omits the word’state’ in hope that the indicators can also be adopted by private higher education (PTS), though this policy is not mandatory for them. The source person then explained the details of each indicator, ranging from 1 to 8.

Following the presentation by the resource person, the session continued with a question-and-answer segment. At the end of the socialization, Professor Ali Muktiyanto encouraged all UT stakeholders to demonstrate the best performance in order to achieve IKU 2023 for PT UT.
