Not all achievements come from smooth paths. Some are built through persistence and the ability to seize available opportunities—an experience reflected in the journey of Adi Rizki Ramadhan, a Universitas Terbuka (UT) student who has balanced academic success with a professional career as a journalist at Media Sukri Indonesia (MSI) Group.
Born in Cimahi, West Java, on 2 November 2002, Adi initially aspired to study law but faced rejection five times. Rather than waiting for ideal conditions, he chose to move forward by enrolling in the Communication Studies program at UT Tasikmalaya, a decision that became a turning point in his life.
UT’s distance-learning system demanded independence, discipline, and strong time management—qualities that enabled Adi to study while working. In 2022, he joined MSI Group as a news uploader at Wartasia, applying his academic knowledge directly in a professional setting. The flexibility of UT allowed him to grow academically without sacrificing his career.
His dedication led to greater trust. In August 2023, Adi was assigned as a field reporter in Samarinda. After completing a three-month internship, he officially joined Narasi media in January 2024. His learning process culminated in winning First Place in a news-writing competition at the Arus Bawah event, supported by his UT studies and journalism training with former Tempo journalists.
For Adi, journalism is about integrity and amplifying community voices. His story highlights how Universitas Terbuka not only expands access to education but also shapes independent, adaptive learners—proving that with discipline and integrity, limited opportunities can be transformed into meaningful achievements.
