Not Just For Fun, UT Fest is Also an Event of Education and Health

Medan, October 5, 2025 – Universitas Terbuka (UT) once again brought excitement through the UT Medan Fest 2025, an annual festival combining elements of education, entertainment, and social outreach. Held over three days, from Friday to Sunday, October 3–5, 2025, at the UT Medan Campus, the event was open to the public free of charge

The Director of UT Medan, Yasir Riady, explained that the event serves as a platform for students, pupils, and the wider community to create while gaining an enjoyable learning experience. The festival featured various exciting activities, including an MSME Bazaar showcasing the creative works of Medan’s youth, interactive talk shows, stand-up comedy, a cosplay walk, and modern dance and vocal solo competitions for different educational levels.

More than just entertainment, UT Medan Fest also carried a strong social message through its charity event program. Visitors could enjoy free eye and health checkups and participate in a blood drive. UT Medan collaborated with Siloam Hospital to hold a health talk show highlighting the importance of a healthy lifestyle. This initiative aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3, which aims to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all ages.

On the educational front, the festival’s various creative and educational activities reflect UT’s commitment to SDG 4, providing access to inclusive and quality education for all. By hosting various competitions and educational exhibitions, UT endeavors to cultivate a lifelong learning spirit within the community.

The involvement of many parties—ranging from students, local MSMEs, private partners, to local government—demonstrates a collaborative spirit that aligns with SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). Support from Telkomsel, Pos Indonesia, Kiss FM, Enesis, Gramedia, and other institutions is tangible evidence of the importance of cross-sectoral synergy in building an empowered and knowledgeable society.

Yasir Riady emphasized that the entire series of events was open to the public for free. He invited the people of Medan and the surrounding areas to attend and take advantage of this positive momentum.

In addition to holding the festival, UT Medan is also open for new student enrollment for the S1 (undergraduate) and S2 (graduate) programs until October 15, 2025. Through its flexible distance learning system, UT remains committed to expanding access to higher education for all levels of society.

With a spirit of openness, innovation, and collaboration, UT Medan Fest 2025 is a true reflection of Universitas Terbuka’s contribution to supporting the achievement of sustainable development goals, creating a smart, healthy, creative, and socially conscious community.
