With Serious Attention to Quality, UT Welcomes Agribusiness Assessment by BAN-PT as A Commitment to Improve Higher Education Standards

South Tangerang, July 14, 2025 – Universitas Terbuka (UT) once again reaffirmed its commitment to providing quality and reliable distance higher education services through the Field Assessment for the Accreditation of the Bachelor’s (S1) Agribusiness Study Program from the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST). This activity took place in the Einstein Room, FST UT Central Building, and is part of UT’s continuous quality improvement efforts. 

The event was officially opened by the Rector of UT, Dr. Mohamad Yunus, S.S., M.A., and was attended by the Secretary of the Board of Trustees (MWA), the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs who is also the Acting Vice Rector for Research, Innovation, Cooperation, and Business, Heads of Institutions, Dean of FST Dr. Subekti Nurmawati, M.Si., Directors of Directorates, Heads of Centers and Quality Assurance Offices, Head of the S1 Agribusiness Study Program, the FST Quality Assurance Cluster (GPM FST), the Form Compilation Team, as well as FST lecturers and academic staff. 

Two assessors from the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT), namely Prof. Dr. Ir. Abdul Latief, M.S. and Mahdi, M.Si., Ph.D., were present in person to verify and confirm data on various aspects, ranging from institutional management, curriculum, human resources, facilities and infrastructure, to the performance and impact of graduates. The assessors carried out data verification and validation processes, as well as direct confirmation with university and faculty leaders, study program heads, lecturers, students, alumni, and graduate user partners. 

In his remarks, the Rector of UT stated that accreditation is not just an administrative obligation but part of the institution’s responsibility to ensure that all distance learning processes at UT meet national and international academic quality standards. 

“We are serious about building public trust in the quality of open and distance education. This assessment is an important part of that commitment,” said the Rector. 

The Dean of FST, Dr. Subekti Nurmawati, M.Si., also expressed appreciation to all parties who have collaborated in preparing this assessment and affirmed that UT’s S1 Agribusiness Study Program is designed to answer the challenges of modern agriculture based on innovation and technology. 

The field assessment activity was officially closed by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Rahmat Budiman, S.S., M.Hum., Ph.D., and was attended by the Vice Rector for Finance, Resources, and General Affairs Prof. Dr. Ali Muktiyanto, S.E., M.Si., Director of Information Systems Dr. Muhammad Rif’an, S.T., M.T., and Head of the Quality Assurance Office Prof. Dr. Mohammad Imam Farisi, M.Pd. 

This field assessment activity is also an integral part of UT’s contribution to achieving the sustainable development goals (SDGs), especially in the fields of education, sustainable agriculture, and inclusive economy. 

Through this assessment, Universitas Terbuka hopes that the S1 Agribusiness Study Program of FST UT can achieve the best accreditation and further strengthen UT’s reputation as a pioneer in excellent distance higher education that is adaptive to global developments. This accreditation serves as a strategic foundation in providing world-standard distance education that is oriented towards a real impact on broad community development, especially in the agricultural sector, entrepreneurship, and knowledge-based economic empowerment.
