UT Daerah News – UT Students Prove UT Can Be National Champions in Non-Academics, Here’s The Story!

Surakarta, June 13, 2025 – Universitas Terbuka (UT) Surakarta has once again proven that geographical boundaries do not hinder achievement. The UT Surakarta student team successfully made a name for themselves as the Overall Champion in the Sangiran Championship 2 Year 2025, a highly competitive national pencak silat championship. Held from May 29-31, 2025, at GOR Diponegoro, Sragen, this event became a stage for UT students to prove that quality is not only measured by academic performance but also by athletic prowess.

This extraordinary success was achieved thanks to the dedication and hard work of UT Surakarta athletes who won a total of seven medals: four gold, one silver, and two bronze. This achievement demonstrates that UT students possess potential and talent no less impressive than students from other universities.

Here are the names of UT Surakarta’s sports heroes who contributed medals:

  • Wisnu Ramadhan – Gold (Men’s Artistic Category)
  • Satria Berkah Ananda – Gold (Men’s D Class Match)
  • Lutfia Nur Rohmah – Gold (Women’s B Class Match)
  • Asyifa Fajar Rahmadani – Gold (Women’s Artistic Category)
  • Saprilla Faturrohmah – Silver (Under Class Match)
  • Titis Chendy Ragil Pamungkas – Bronze (Women’s A Class Match)
  • Sani Atha Mufidah – Bronze (Women’s D Class Match)

This achievement is not just about winning medals; it is also an affirmation of UT’s core values: flexibility, accessibility, and quality. Who says distance education limits movement? In fact, with this distance education model, which allows students to manage their own study time, UT students have the flexibility to develop their interests and talents in various fields, including sports. This also aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education, which promotes lifelong learning opportunities and holistic self-development. This victory is concrete proof that UT students are not only intellectually brilliant but also resilient and accomplished in non-academic arenas.

UT Surakarta hopes that this success will inspire all other UT students. This achievement shows that with effective time management and full support from the university, every student has the potential to achieve their dreams and bring honor to Universitas Terbuka on various national and international stages.
