SMK HMPTI Visits UT, Getting A Glimpse of Fun on Online Learning

Universitas Terbuka (UT) continues to solidify its appeal as a pioneer of distance higher education in Indonesia, offering a predominantly online learning system. On December 10, 2024, students from SMK HMPTI Banjar Agung visited UT’s headquarters in South Tangerang to gain a closer understanding of UT’s modern learning approach.

This activity aimed to provide a deeper understanding of the distance learning system implemented by UT. Participants were introduced to the facilities, academic services, and digital innovations that support the learning process at UT. Additionally, the visit served as an opportunity to share information about flexible and high-quality higher education opportunities at UT, particularly for vocational school students and the Lampung community.

Rica Wulandari, A.Md., Coordinator of SALUT Bandar Lampung, stated that the visit was intended to gain a comprehensive understanding of UT’s profile. “This activity also serves as a promotional effort, considering that SALUT HMPTI has 1,500 students, one of the largest numbers in Lampung—we are optimistic about increasing the number of students in line with UT’s target to reach one million students,” she said. Rica also encouraged SALUT centers in various regions to conduct similar visits involving schools to further promote UT’s advantages to the wider community.

Suryo Wiyoto, S.Pd., Chairperson of HMPTI Foundation and Head of SALUT HMPTI Unit 2 Tulang Bawang, highlighted that Universitas Terbuka is a high-quality and affordable public university, making it an ideal choice for the people of Tulang Bawang. “We hope that SALUT HMPTI will continue to receive support from UT’s main campus to grow even further. We are committed to increasing the number of students,” he emphasized.

In her speech, Dr. Maya Maria, M.M., Head of UT’s Public Relations and Marketing Subdivision, expressed her appreciation for the visit. “Thank you for visiting UT’s main campus. We hope that after graduating, these students will continue their education at UT—a public university with a flexible, high-quality, and affordable learning system that transcends geographical and time limitations. With an A accreditation from BAN PT and international recognition, UT is the right choice for a promising future,” Dr. Maya remarked.

The event included an exchange of mementos between SALUT HMPTI Banjar Agung, Bandar Lampung, and UT, symbolizing mutual appreciation for the established collaboration and support. This moment underscored the synergy between UT and SALUT in supporting accessible and quality education for all.

Participants were also invited to explore UT’s facilities, such as the Multimedia Learning Materials Development Center, and to visit the UT Radio and UT TV studios. All these services are designed to support UT students’ learning processes. The students’ enthusiasm was evident as they witnessed firsthand UT’s advanced and innovative learning systems.

This visit not only strengthened the relationship between UT and SALUT in various regions but also reaffirmed UT’s commitment to providing high-quality higher education in the digital era. With more high school and vocational school students visiting, UT hopes that more students will recognize UT as the right choice for a promising future.
