Universitas Terbuka in a Distinguished Event: Reinforcing Educational Alliance Between Indonesia and France 

Education is developing consistantly along with the demand of higher international quality. To address the issue, Universitas Terbuka (UT) continues to enhance its quality in realizing international collaboration to provide a world-class quality at distance learning that is able to be accessed by people at all levels. Moreover, UT proceed to do the research on science and technology development, especially in the field of international and sustainable online distance learning. Through community service, UT strive to empower and enhance the society wellfare by implementing various results of research and technology directly. 

As part of the commitment, UT participated in the 13th Joint Working Group (JWG) Indonesia-France in the field of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation, which was held from 2-5 July 2024 at Universitas Negeri Surabaya (Unesa), Jawa Timur. The event was organized by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology and National Research and Innovation Agency of Indonesia, as well as the Ministry of Higher Education and Research of France. 

JWG of Indonesia-France is annual event, aiming to foster bilateral relations between the two countries in the fields of Higher Education and Research. “Fostering Indonesia-French Higher Education, Research, and Innovation Partnerships for an Advanced and Sustainable Future,” was the theme of this year event. The theme hoped to gain stronger collaboration between universities of both countries, including student and staff exchanges, joint research, and development of teaching methodology.  

The Head of Partnership and International Affair Subdirectorate, Fauzy Rahman Kosasih, S.S., M.Pd. acted as one delegation of Universitas Terbuka. UT participation during JWG was a concrete step to realize UT’s Vision to become a world-class Distance Higher Education Institution. A stronger International network is hoped to enhance the quality of education and research at UT, and contribute to strengthening bilateral relation between Indonesia and France. 

UT’s participation during this distinguished event hoped to meditate more strategic collaboration and concrete initiative which are able to be implemented to support the development of higher education and research of Indonesia in the near future.
