The MY-UT Tournament 2024, or Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Youth Universitas Terbuka Tournament 2024, is a national Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Youth (MLBBY) competition organized by Universitas Terbuka (UT) as part of the 40th Anniversary celebrations. This tournament provides an opportunity for high school teams or equivalent to compete, representing their schools while introducing them to the world of e-Sports integrated with higher education at UT. Through the MY-UT Tournament 2024, participants are encouraged to excel at the national level and build connections with students from various regions in Indonesia.

The MY-UT Tournament aims to discover outstanding e-Sport talents in Indonesia, emphasizing positive values such as teamwork, strategic thinking, patience, response control, accuracy, emotion management, and developing non-impulsive and stress-resistant personalities. Mastery of technology literacy, teamwork, and personal management skills are highly compatible with pursuing education at UT and supporting future professions.

During the MY-UT Tournament 2024 finals, UT Rector Prof. Ojat Darojat, M.Bus., Ph.D., emphasized that the tournament was a strategic effort to share UT’s vision and mission with schools and high school students across Indonesia. It also demonstrated UT’s commitment to supporting the growth of eSports in Indonesia while aligning with the educational interests of its players. Prof. Ojat expressed his gratitude for the massive participation in the MY-UT Tournament, stating, “Alhamdulillah, it’s incredible that this MLBB tournament involved 3,546 participants from all over Indonesia.” He further highlighted that the MY-UT Tournament serves as a bridge for UT to connect with high school students, especially Gen Z, who are UT’s current target market. Additionally, the tournament has raised public awareness of UT as an accessible, high-quality public university.

Founded 40 years ago as the 45th public university in Indonesia, UT has dedicated itself to providing quality higher education through an open and distance learning system. With strengths in reach, flexibility in time and location, and affordable tuition, UT has broadened access to higher education for Indonesians, including high school graduates.

Now a state university with legal entity status (PTN-BH), UT operates 39 regional offices and one overseas service office, offering two diploma programs, 37 undergraduate programs, nine master’s programs, and two doctoral programs. UT boasts more than half a million active students (551,030) spread across Indonesia and 56 countries, 70% of whom are young people or Gen Z.

With a vision to increase student enrollment to one million, UT remains committed to being the top choice for students, especially Gen Z, who wish to pursue higher education without having to abandon their interests and talents in the eSports world.
