Bener Meriah Regency Government Invited UT to Improve The Region’s Human Resources

As a Legal Entity State University (PTN-BH) with Open and Distance Learning (ODL), Universitas Terbuka (UT) continues to collaborate and synergize with various institutions to enhance its quality. Aligned with this goal, UT has established a partnership marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Bener Meriah Regency Government.  

The MoU signing ceremony took place on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at the BKUK Building, Universitas Terbuka, South Tangerang. The event was attended by the Rector of Universitas Terbuka, Prof. Ojat Darojat, M.Bus., Ph.D., Vice Rector for Research, Innovation, Partnership, and Business, Rahmat Budiman, S.S., M.Hum, Ph.D., Acting Director of UT Banda Aceh, Syamsuri, S.IP., Acting Director of Marketing and Partnership, Ali Tarigan, S.E., Acting Regent of Bener Meriah, Ir. Mohd. Tanwier, M.M., Secretary of Bener Meriah, Riswandika Putra S.Tr.IP., Head of the Communication and Information Office of Bener Meriah, Ilham Abdi S.Stp., M.AP., along with other representatives from Universitas Terbuka and the Bener Meriah Regency Government. 

The event proceeded with the reading of an abstract, followed by the signing of the MoU documents between UT, represented by the Rector, and the Bener Meriah Regency Government, represented by the Acting Regent. The MoU focuses on enhancing the quality of Tri Dharma of Higher Education and Human Resources (HR), aiming to develop education, research, and community service. 

In his remarks, Prof. Ojat emphasized the importance of networking and strong collaboration to achieve sustainable progress. He expressed confidence that improving HR quality through this partnership is a crucial step in realizing UT’s vision as a PTN-BH to provide affordable and inclusive distance higher education, both economically and geographically, in line with the goal of achieving Indonesia Emas 2045. 

Acting Regent Ir. Mohd. Tanwier, M.M., highlighted UT’s significant role over its 40-year history in extending education to remote areas. He highly appreciated this collaboration initiative and hoped that such partnerships could enhance HR quality in various remote regions. 

The event concluded with a group photo of all attendees. It is hoped that this collaboration will foster positive synergy between the education sector and the government, providing significant benefits and impacts for students and institutions and the community.
