Financial management is a strategic step to achieving a brighter future. Universitas Terbuka (UT) partnered up with Bank Nasional Indonesia (BNI) held a webinar themed “Financially Smart at A Young Age: Guide to Savings, Investment, and Business for Students” on September 6th, 2024. This event becomes a platform for financial education designed to strengthen financial literacy and opening business opportunities in the digital era.

The event was opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), Dr. Subekti Nurmawati, M.Si. through her remark. She stated that UT as a pioneer of open and distance learning (ODL) is committed to educating students and producing career-ready graduates. She stated that the partnership between UT and BNI is a productive collaboration. It is hoped that this webinar enhances students’ financial literacy and promotes entrepreneurship through provided opportunities.


This webinar hosts an expert, Rizali Ridwan, AVP Investment Specialist BNI 46, and Dian Nurdiana, S.Kom., M.Kom., Lecturer of FST UT. Rizali Ridwan delivers strategies to save up and invest for the future. He emphasizes the importance of investment and entrepreneurship to maximize independence in future life. While giving investment tips, he introduced BNI’s investment app, Wondr, which gives the ease to access investment instruments such as reksadana and obligations, which fits perfectly for students stepping towards financial freedom.


Meanwhile, Dian Nurdiana, S.Kom., M.Kom., emphasized the importance of entrepreneurship between students. She emphasized that the age of social media eases entrepreneurs in marketing their products online, increasing the market size. As entrepreneruship is highly encouraged by the government, she hoped that students would participate in it. For example, the Program of Training for Entrepreneur Students (P2MW) which gives students guidance for entrepreneurship.
This webinar is concrete proof of Universitas Terbuka’s commitment in supporting students to financial freedom through financial literacy and innovative entrepreneurship. The strategic collaboration between UT and BNI mirrors the strategy between the world of DUDI and higher education, creating real opportunities to increase financial competence and digital entrepreneurship.
As part of SDGs implementation, UT supports SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequality), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). It’s hoped that UT students are not just prepared for job seeking, but also providing jobs that benefit the society, aligning with UT’s role as a pioneer in education relevant with the needs of the industry and society.
