Employees are an institution’s assets because, without human resources, an organization cannot operate properly to achieve its predetermined visions and objectives. Employee welfare has become increasingly important as it improves their motivation, spirit, and loyalty to the institution. Providing good welfare to workers, including medical healthcare coverage, can maximize their job performance in achieving common goals.
On Monday, February 20, 2023, Universitas Terbuka held an event titled “Socialization of Health Insurance for Universitas Terbuka Employees” as a step to provide information on the facilities and benefits available to employees at Universitas Terbuka. The program was conducted in a hybrid format, with both offline activities at the Convention Center (UTCC) of Universitas Terbuka’s Headquarter and online activities via the Zoom application.
The activity began with signing the Health Insurance Contract for UT Employees. The contract was signed by the Head of UT’s Services and Goods Procurement Unit, Adrian Sutawijaya, S.E., M.Si., and the Marketing Director of Mandiri Inhealth, Bugi Riagandhy, in the presence of Universitas Terbuka’s Rector, Prof. Drs. Ojat Darojat, M.Bus., Ph.D.
During the forum, Prof. Ojat Darojat, M.Bus., Ph.D., the Rector of UT, addressed the importance of providing information on health insurance as an effort to ensure the best health services for all employees, thereby improving their welfare and health. The insurance program and pension benefits demonstrate UT’s attention and care for its personnel as a Higher Education Institution of Incorporated Legal Entity (PTN BH). The Rector expressed hope that the insurance program would provide significant benefits and contribute to improving the quality of services provided. In conclusion, the Rector expressed gratitude to Mandiri Inhealth and BNI Life for their collaboration in providing insurance programs that meet the demands of UT employees as a Higher Education Institution of Incorporated Legal Entity (PTN BH).
Following the presentation session, Managed Health Care Insurance membership cards were symbolically handed out by the UT Rector, Prof. Ojat Darojat, M.Bus., Ph.D., and Mr. Herman, who represented all UT employees. The Membership FitCards are provided to UT’s active employees and extended to registered family members, including legitimate spouses and children up to a certain age limit. The activity continued with an exchange of souvenirs and a joint photo session among the visitors from Mandiri Inhealth, BNI Life, and UT’s senior officials.
The core program of the event included the socialization and explanation of the facilities and benefits of health insurance for UT’s active employees and their families, as well as the Pension Program. The session was led by Mr. Abdul Rojak, the Unit Head of Operating Services Office Jakarta – Mandiri Inhealth. It was explained that the insurance coverage provided by the health insurance program varies depending on the type of insurance (Gold, Diamond, and Platinum). Generally, the benefits provided under this managed care program include outpatient medical consultations or referrals to specialist hospitals within the provider’s network. Other benefits and coverage include medication, maternity care, eyeglasses, a pool fund, medical rehabilitation, and emergency services. Inpatient care services are also provided and accommodated by Mandiri Inhealth, with ward accommodation corresponding to the membership class specified in the insurance card. Furthermore, diagnostic support examinations, external referrals, medication provision, and intensive care in both the ICU and ICCU are available based on medical indications or symptoms, along with other coverages from Mandiri Inhealth. Additional benefits such as maternity treatment or delivery up to the third child, supplementary eyeglass purchases, dental prosthetics, and locomotor prosthetics are also provided to insured individuals under the Mandiri Inhealth insurance program.
A discussion and question-and-answer session followed the socialization. Prof. Atwi Suparman, who served as UT’s Rector from 2002 to 2009, expressed support and appreciation for UT’s health insurance facilities and pension program. He emphasized the benefits of these programs in improving worker welfare and as a form of care provided by the institution’s management for the health of employees and their families, particularly for retirees who have previously worked for UT, considering the rising costs of medical care nowadays.
