Tangerang Selatan, October 2, 2025 – Universitas Terbuka (UT) once again affirmed its position as a university that never stops opening doors to higher education access. On Thursday, October 2, 2025, UT received a visit from the Center for Education Financing Services (PUSLAPDIK) of the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) at the UT Central office in Pondok Cabe, South Tangerang. This meeting marked an important moment to strengthen strategic collaboration in delivering quality education accessible to all people, without exception.
The visit was warmly welcomed by the UT leadership. The friendly and open atmosphere reflected the shared spirit: making higher education a right for every citizen, not a privilege for a select few.
Since its establishment, UT has been known as a university that presents a solution for learning without the limits of space and time. With its distance education system, UT has become the answer for millions, ranging from workers, housewives, to the younger generation in remote areas of the country. PUSLAPDIK’s presence on this occasion adds new energy to expand the scope of financing services, ensuring that cost is no longer a reason for the nation’s children to stop dreaming.

The collaboration between UT and PUSLAPDIK is not just about education funding. More profoundly, it is about a mission to build the future. Through targeted financing support, students from underprivileged families can still continue their studies. This effort aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically SDG 4: Quality Education, which emphasizes the importance of inclusivity and fairness in access to learning.
The discussion also touched upon opportunities for cooperation in the field of digital innovation for education financing services. With over seven hundred thousand active students spread across the country, UT is a strategic partner for realizing the transformation of national education that is inclusive and adaptive to technological developments.
UT believes that everyone deserves the same opportunity to learn and grow. The presence of PUSLAPDIK confirms that commitment: to jointly build financing mechanisms that lighten the burden on students, while ensuring the quality of education is maintained.
On this occasion, the Director of Marketing and Cooperation (DPKS) of UT, Ali Tarigan, warmly welcomed the visit from PUSLAPDIK. Ali Tarigan stated and affirmed that UT is always consistent in providing the best education services for the nation’s children. “In accordance with its name, Universitas Terbuka (Open University). This means it is wide open for everyone from anywhere to study at UT without having to leave their homes,” Ali revealed.
Ali Tarigan also disclosed that UT is present not only in Indonesia but also in various countries around the world. “Currently, UT is present in as many as 56 countries, with approximately 6,000 students. This means UT is present in the homes of the community wherever they are,” he added.

Still on the same occasion, Sofiana Nurjanah, Coordinator of the Smart Indonesia Program (PIP) Working Group of Kemendikdasmen, highly appreciated UT. According to Sofiana, UT as a higher education institution is the answer, especially in terms of limited access to higher education. With the collaboration between UT and PUSLAPDIK, the hope is that it will provide encouragement and reinforcement, especially for final-year students who will pursue higher education, to remain enthusiastic about continuing their studies.
This visit shows that tangible collaboration between universities and financing institutions is more than just a formality. Moreover, it is a collective movement to narrow the gap, strengthen the competitiveness of the younger generation, and ensure that the spirit of learning among Indonesians will continue to live on amid all limitations.
With this step, Universitas Terbuka further affirms itself: the people’s campus, the campus of hope, and the campus of the future.
