Acceleration of Sustainable Quality, Doctor of Management Program Held Field Assessment by LAMEMBA 

Tangerang Selatan, June 11, 2025 – Universitas Terbuka (UT) once again demonstrated its commitment to maintaining the quality standards of distance higher education, including at the doctoral level. This time, the Doctoral Program in Management (DIM) underwent a Field Assessment (AL) by the Accreditation Institute for Economics, Management, Business, and Accounting (LAMEMBA) as part of the national accreditation process. 

This assessment activity took place over two days, June 11-12, 2025, in the Rasamala Meeting Room, Wisma II, Ground Floor, Universitas Terbuka. This process became strategic momentum for institutional reflection and strengthening governance, academic quality, and an adaptive, internationally standardized learning system. 

The activity began with an official opening on Wednesday (June 11) morning, attended by UT’s leadership, including: the Rector of UT, the Chairman of the University Academic Senate, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, the Vice Rectors, the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), the Director of the Postgraduate School, the Chairman of the Research and Community Service Institute, the Chairman of the Learning Operations Services Institute, and the Director of the Information Systems Directorate, the Head of the Quality Assurance Office, representatives from the Library and Archives Center, the Head of the Learning Material and Multimedia Production Center, representatives from the Learning Material Services Center, the Head of the Testing Processing Center, the Head of the Learning Management Center, the Vice Deans of FEB, the Vice Director of the Postgraduate School, Managers at the Quality Assurance Office, and the Head of the Doctoral Program in Management. 

In his address, the Rector of UT, Dr. Mohamad Yunus, S.S., M.A., conveyed UT’s hope that this assessment would not only be an evaluative process but also a constructive academic reflection aimed at continuous quality improvement of the Doctoral Program in Management. 

“This assessment activity is an important moment for deep academic reflection and encourages the continuous strengthening of the DIM study program’s quality,” said Dr. Yunus. He added, “The spirit of the assessors provides positive energy to make the DIM program even better.” 

On the first day of the assessment, the LAMEMBA assessor team, consisting of Prof. Lizar Alfansi, S.E., MBA., Ph.D. and Prof. Dr. Marcellia Susan, clarified and confirmed the Self-Evaluation Document (DED) prepared by the study program. The assessor team also conducted in-depth interviews with various stakeholders: university leaders, program managers, lecturers, students, and institutional partners, to obtain a comprehensive and objective overview of the implementation of the Doctoral Program in Management at UT. 

The assessment concluded on the second day with the submission of the field assessment report and the presentation of initial recommendations from the assessor team to the faculty and study program. The Head of the DIM Study Program expressed appreciation for the recommendations given: 

“The input from the Assessors is very valuable for improving the quality of the Universitas Terbuka’s Doctoral Program in Management, especially in strengthening international competitiveness. Our commitment is to follow up on these recommendations as a strategic step in realizing excellent and globally relevant doctoral education,” he stated. 

This assessment underscores UT’s seriousness in providing quality, relevant, and competitive doctoral education. These efforts align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically: SDG 4 – Quality Education, SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities, and SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals. With a spirit of sustainability, UT continues to transform into a world-class distance learning institution that is inclusive and adaptive to global demands.
