As a pioneer of Open and Distance Learning (ODL), Universitas Terbuka (UT) remains committed to expanding access to quality higher education for all segments of society. With a flexible learning system that is still held up to high academic standards, UT has become a benchmark for various other universities, particularly in organizing learning activities.
To realize this goal, UT has formed a strategic partnership with Jakarta Business School (JBS) through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA). The signing ceremony took place on Monday, September 30, 2024, in the DMAUPBJ Conference Room, 2nd Floor of the BKUK Building, Universitas Terbuka, South Tangerang. The PKS was signed by UT’s Vice Rector for Research, Innovation, Partnership, and Business, Rahmat Budiman, S.S., M.Hum., Ph.D., and JBS Vice Rector for Domestic Cooperation, Dr. Dian Alanudin, A.Md. Graf., S.Hum., MBA, GRCE. The event was also attended by leaders and representatives from both institutions.

Through this partnership, JBS students can take online courses at UT, facilitated by UT tutors in Online Tutorials (Tuton). This partnership is a follow-up to the Memorandum of Understanding No. 4/UN31/HK.08.00/2024 and No. 001/PKK/ITBJ/I/2024 dated January 2, 2024, regarding the improvement of the quality of the implementation of the Tridharma of Higher Education and the competence of human resources at both institutions.
In his remarks, UT’s Vice Rector for Research, Innovation, Cooperation, and Business, Rahmat Budiman, S.S., M.Hum., Ph.D., warmly welcomed the partnership between the two educational institutions. He also emphasized that UT is always committed to maintaining the quality of its academic standards, which is reflected through UT’s rigorous assessment system. “The hope is that with this procedure, UT can continue to produce high-quality graduates,” he stated. By implementing strict procedures, UT aims to ensure that its educational offerings produce quality outcomes.
On the other hand, JBS Vice Rector for Domestic Cooperation, Dr. Dian Alanudin, A.Md. Graf., S.Hum., MBA, GRCE, expressed his highest appreciation to UT for the successful signing of this Cooperation Agreement. He added that through this partnership, JBS students will gain a unique learning experience with different methods and platforms, namely online learning. “We believe this will enrich our students’ academic experience,” said Dian Alanudin.

With the establishment of this partnership between UT and JBS, it is expected to further strengthen UT’s role in providing and expanding access to affordable and quality distance higher education. Additionally, moving forward, this partnership will serve as a catalyst for both institutions to continue innovating and producing impactful work for the broader society.
