“Looking for Flexible University? UT is a solution!”
-Dewi Erviani-
Universitas Terbuka keeps getting more outstanding achievements, not only in academics but also in non-academics. As a university which has been reputable for its flexibility, UT provides limitless space for its students to obtain achievements. Seeing that opportunity, UT students would not like to waste the momentum to reach achievements in various areas and competitions.
One of them is a student from UT Jambi, Dewi Erviani. Dewi is a management student from the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) and has demonstrated outstanding performance when competing at the Asean University Games 2024, held in Ubaya Sports Center, Surabaya, Jawa Timur. As a result, she won and came out as the champion in the Wushu Sanda 48Kg Women’s Category. This remarkable achievement proved UT’s commitment to generating excellent young generations in various fields, especially sports.

Becoming an athlete has been a pride itself for Dewi. Being an athlete is not only a way to express her passion. More than that, being an athlete is one way to obtain achievement and gain self-respect and confidence. Becoming a dedicated athlete is not an easy way, ”my journey as an athlete is adequately blessed. I participated in athletic O2SN at Sprinter and participated in the National Competition Yogyakarta in 2018 when I was still 17. From 2019 to 2022 I participated Linus Futsal Competition in Purwokerto and participated in Futsal Pro League in Jakarta, representing KJI team Jambi. During 2023-2024 I participated and won the third position in Muaythai Provincial Championship, the winner of Wushu Provincial Sports Week, the winner of Wushu Regional Sports Week, and the winner of Wushu Asean Games University,” she stated. This illustrates her strong determination to achieve more and exceed her potential.
Along with her schedule as an athlete, her determination to pursue higher education has not diminished. Out of the many universities, UT is the most suitable option for Dewi to support her current needs and activities. Additionally, Dewi received an exclusive offer from KONI Kota Jambi for a scholarship to study at UT. This also serves as concrete evidence of UT’s commitment to supporting and contributing to the development of excellent generations. According to Dewi, studying at UT is an extraordinary honor, and she is very happy to be able to study here. Dewi expressed, “I am very happy to be able to study at UT because the courses are truly flexible. This allows me to adjust and balance my time between my intense training schedule and my studies,” she said. For her, UT is the best place for people who want to get quality higher education without having to sacrifice other activities.
Dewi also shared motivational encouragement for other students as her final remarks. “Continue to achieve the highest possible accomplishments, both academic and non-academic. Do not doubt your abilities and hobbies, and most importantly, do not be afraid to start something you have never tried before,” she concluded. Hopefully, the achievements made by UT students can serve as positive inspiration for other students and the broader community, as well as strengthen UT’s role in generating excellent future generations.
