As a pioneer in the implementation of Open and Distance Learning (ODL) on higher education in Indonesia, Universitas Terbuka (UT) continues to attract the attention of the academic world, both at home and abroad. This time, UT received a special visit from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Malaysia which took place on Monday, February 24, 2025. The meeting, which took place in the Mahoni Room, Wisma 3 UT Center, Pondok Cabe, South Tangerang, became a forum for discussion and sharing of experiences and good practices in managing distance education. 

The event opened with remarks from the Head of the UT Cooperation and International Affairs Sub-Directorate, Ing. Mohamad Rajih Radiansyah, B.AS., M.Sc., who represented the Director of the Marketing and Cooperation Directorate (DPK), Ali Tarigan, S.E. In his remarks, he expressed his pride in the visit of the UiTM delegation and introduced UT as the largest Legal Entity State University (PTNBH) in Indonesia. With nearly 700,000 students spread across 39 UT Regional and 55 countries, UT continues to be committed to being a pioneer and leader in the distance learning system. He also hoped that guests from UiTM would enjoy this series of visits and gain new insights. 

Interest in the UT education system was also expressed by the UiTM representative, Dr. Mazlina Zaira Kljajic. She expressed her admiration for how UT manages such a large number of students and wanted to know more about the Distance Learning (PJJ) system implemented by UT. The same enthusiasm also came from UiTM students who participated in this visit, until finally an impromptu QnA session was held to explore more about UT. 

The series of events continued with a visit to the Teaching Materials and Multimedia Production Center (P2BAM), where Candra Wibawa, S.Sn., M.Ds., explained the teaching material production process, from module creation to the development of various UT digital learning channels. Delegates were also invited to visit the Teaching Materials Service Management Center (PUSLABA) to see firsthand how UT manages and distributes its teaching materials to all students around the world. 

Through this visit, UT and UiTM hope to further strengthen collaboration and strengthen each other’s existence in the international education scene. With the spirit of innovation and global cooperation, both institutions are ready to have a positive impact on the world of education and research, for a brighter future for the next generation.
