South Tangerang, July 23, 2025 – Universitas Terbuka (UT) once again demonstrated its strategic role as a pioneer in open and distance higher education in Indonesia by hosting the inauguration and work meeting of the Indonesian Management Forum (FMI) Banten Regional Commission. The event took place at the Multipurpose Hall of UT Central Office. The FMI Banten Commission serves as a platform for collaboration among higher education institutions in Banten for the development of management science through academic activities, research, and partnerships with industry.
The event was attended by leaders from various universities that also collaborate with UT, including the Rector of Universitas Bina Bangsa (UNIBA) Prof. Drs. Muhammad Suparmoko, MA., Ph.D., Vice Rector I of UNIBA Prof. Dr. H. Bambang Dwi Suseno, S.E., M.M., Vice Rector I of Universitas Primagraha (UPG) H. Anis Fuad Salam, S.E., M.M., CPM., and Dean of FEB UPG Abdurrohman, S.E., M.M., CPM., as well as representatives from Universitas Serang Raya (UNSERA), Dr. Sukirno, SE., M.M. and Dr. Nana Umdiana, M.Akt. The event also saw participation from various other higher education institutions in Banten such as Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa (UNTIRTA), Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN), and Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN).
From UT, Prof. Rahmat Budiman, S.S., M.Hum., Ph.D., Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Acting Vice Rector for Research, Innovation, Cooperation, and Business, was present, along with the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UT and concurrently the Chair of FMI Banten Commission, Dr. Meirani Harsasi, S.E, M.Si.

In his welcoming speech, Prof. Rahmat Budiman, M.Hum., Ph.D., expressed his highest appreciation for the inauguration of FMI Banten Regional Commission and emphasized the importance of FMI as a strategic platform for the exchange of ideas and innovation among management academics.
He also stated that it was an honor for UT, as one of Indonesia’s higher education communities, to be chosen and trusted to host this event. “The hope is that this FMI can encourage the strengthening of research, community service, and human resource (HR) development, particularly in the Banten region and its surroundings,” said Prof. Rahmat Budiman.
The event comprised three main agendas: the inauguration of the FMI Banten Commission management, which included the handover of the Decree (SK) of appointment; secondly, the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) and Cooperation Agreements (PKS); and thirdly, the work meeting of the FMI management.
Several important collaborations were signed, including:
- MoU between Universitas Terbuka and Universitas Bina Bangsa regarding “Implementation of Higher Education Tridharma.”
- PKS regarding “Implementation of Education, Research, Community Service, and Resource Development in the Field of Economics and Business” between:
- Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UT and Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Universitas Serang Raya.
- Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UT and Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Universitas Bina Bangsa.
- Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UT and Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Universitas Primagraha.
- Universitas Terbuka Serang and Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Universitas Primagraha.
- Universitas Terbuka Serang and Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Universitas Serang Raya.
The management of FMI Banten Regional Commission for the 2025–2030 period was inaugurated directly by the Chairman of FMI, Drs. Sri Gunawan M.Com., DBA., who stated that FMI would continue to open avenues for collaboration and HR strengthening in the field of management. “FMI must be a catalyst for impactful scientific collaboration for society and industry,” he asserted. He added that FMI broadly accommodates human resource potential and is open to anyone interested in joining the development of management disciplines.
