Jakarta, September 3, 2025 – Universitas Terbuka (UT) has achieved another national milestone. At the Prominent Award 2025, UT won an award in the category of Excellent SDGs Program in Borderless and Technology Higher Education. This recognition honors UT’s significant contribution to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in inclusive, equitable, and technology-based higher education.
As a pioneer of Open and Distance Higher Education (PTTJJ) in Indonesia, UT has proven its ability to provide access to higher education for people from diverse social backgrounds, professions, ages, and regions, both domestically and abroad. With its flexible and innovative digital learning system, UT not only provides learning opportunities but also promotes educational equity and improves the quality of human resources.
The Rector of Universitas Terbuka, Prof. Dr. Ali Muktiyanto, S.E., M.Si., represented by the Director of Marketing and Cooperation, Ali Tarigan, expressed gratitude and pride for the award. “This award is tangible proof of Universitas Terbuka’s commitment to expanding access to quality higher education for everyone, regardless of space, time, or circumstance. We will continue to innovate to deliver digital learning that is flexible, affordable, and has a broad impact,” he stated.
In a separate statement, Prof. Rahmat Budiman, S.S. M.Hum, Ph.D., the Acting Vice Rector for Research, Innovation, Cooperation, and Business, emphasized the award’s importance. “This recognition proves UT’s contribution to sustainable development through boundless and inclusive higher education. My hope is that UT will continue to strengthen digital innovation, global collaboration, and openness so that more young people can access quality education on the path to Golden Indonesia 2045.”
The Prominent Award 2025 is given to institutions, organizations, and individuals recognized for their outstanding programs, innovations, and significant contributions to sustainable development. This year, the awards included categories for Leadership, Private Sector, Cooperatives, CSR – SDGs – Socioeconomic Impact, State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), Regionally-Owned Enterprises (BUMD), and State Institutions.
UT received the award alongside other organizations like BPJS Kesehatan, which was recognized for its digital health service innovation, reinforcing the credibility of the awards as a benchmark for long-term development transformation.

This award serves as both a reminder and a motivator for UT to remain consistent in providing higher education that is adaptive to the needs of the times and can have a positive impact on the nation’s development toward Golden Indonesia 2045.
