Ambon, 30 June 2025 – The commitment of Indonesia National Forces (TNI) in improving their human resources. One of the strategic steps was done by the Commander of The TNI Navy Main Base (Lantamal) IX Ambon, Brigadier General of TNI (Mar) Suwandi, S.A.P., M.M., with the socialization of Universitas Terbuka’s programs for the soldiers and civil servants in Lantamal.
Held in Manggala Loka Building, Mako Lantamal IX, this event was attended by Perwira, Bintara, and Tamtama, along with civil servants. They were introduced to the flexible learning system provided by UT, the only state university in Indonesia with accredited open and distance learning (ODL) system.
“Bachelor’s education is highly important. In the future, to go through a promotion process, for instance, from Bintara to Perwira, a bachelor’s degree would be a requirement. Therefore, it should be prepared from today.” said Aspers Danlantamal IX, Navy Colonel (S) Rojilun, present in place of Commander of Lantamal IX.
Through UT, the soldiers receive access to inclusive higher education without having to leave service post. The system of module-based learning allows study to be conducted anytime and anywhere, even from the naval base.
Director of UT Ambon, Yuli Tirtajandi El Anshori, S.IP., M.AP., emphasized that soldiers are still able to serve the country while pursuing higher education without setbacks in time and location.
UT also provides various study programs, from education programs such as Early Childhood Education and Primary Education, Law, Government Science, Communication, Mathematics, all the way to Information Systems, as well as other quality study programs. The variety of study programs is a plus point for whoever wants to improve their careers and intellectual capabilities. With the reach of the flexible learning and online exam system, UT is the ideal choice for active workers, including those in the military.
This socialization is a concrete symbol of the synergy between education and defense. The presence of UT ICT Team, Academics, and Lantamal is a form of support for collective efforts in creating quality human resources who are tough and adaptive in the digital era.
With the spirit of lifelong learning, UT opens the door for whoever wants to study without limitations in space, time, and profession. Including those who defend the country, but wanting to increase their capacity and competence for the benefit of the people.
