The “greensociopreneur” concept promotes visionary entrepreneurs capable of creating integrated solutions for social and ecological problems, forming a fairer, regenerative, and sustainable business ecosystem.

Officially, the Entrepreneurship Study Program has been opened based on the Decree of the Rector of Universitas Terbuka Number 1456 Year 2025. This decision is based on the Letter of the Academic Senate of Universitas Terbuka Number B/24/UN31.SAU/TP.01.06/2025 dated March 18, 2025, which approved the opening of the study program. Furthermore, this study program has met the minimum accreditation requirements from an independent institution, namely LAMEMBA (Independent Accreditation Institute for Economics, Management, Business, and Accounting) through Decree Number 708/DE/A.5/AR.11/V/2025. This accreditation serves as a quality assurance for the provision of higher education in the program.
The high public interest in business is one of the strong reasons for opening this program. Amidst increasingly complex economic and social challenges, there is a greater need for university graduates who are not only ready to work but also capable of creating jobs. UT, as a pioneer in Open and Distance Higher Education (PTTJJ) which has been nationally accredited and internationally certified, sees a great opportunity to support the national entrepreneurship ecosystem through adaptive, flexible, and quality education.
UT’s Entrepreneurship Study Program boasts several advantages designed to meet the needs of today’s business world. Its curriculum is practice and innovation-based, ensuring students are directly involved in case studies, business simulations, and even real entrepreneurial projects from the very first semester. Students will also gain industry internship experience or run independent businesses as part of their active learning. Final assignments are designed as business projects, not traditional theses, to be more applicable and relevant to real-world challenges.
In addition to the practical approach, students will also be equipped with creative and innovative thinking skills, business planning, product development, and an understanding of sustainability principles in entrepreneurship. Key courses in this program include Business Ideas and Opportunities, Creativity in Business, Business Planning, and Sustainable Business. The learning process is supported by teaching staff from both academia and industry practitioners, and assisted by business incubators ready to provide intensive mentoring.
One prominent aspect of this program is UT’s characteristic flexible online learning, which allows students from across the country to access quality education without having to leave their domicile or work. Students will also be connected with various strategic partners such as the Indonesian Management Forum (FMI), the Integrated Business Service Center (PLUT) of the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs, the Indonesian Business Incubator Association (AIBI), and the Indonesian Entrepreneurship Study Program Association (APSKI), which will strengthen students’ entrepreneurial competence and network from an early stage.
In its initial implementation phase, student admission services for the Entrepreneurship Study Program are available in 10 Regional UTs, including UT Medan, UT Padang, UT Jakarta, UT Bandung, UT Semarang, UT Malang, UT Denpasar, UT Mataram, UT Samarinda, and UT Makassar. As of July 24, 2025, a total of 378 students have been officially registered. This indicates high public enthusiasm for the opening of this study program.
Universitas Terbuka ensures full readiness in organizing this program, from curriculum structure, human resource readiness, academic information systems, learning materials, to learning processes and assessments. Socialization and promotion of the program are also continuously carried out, including student involvement in community service, and the development of references and learning resources that support effective entrepreneurial practices.
With the launch of this Bachelor’s Program in Entrepreneurship, Universitas Terbuka aims to produce a young generation that not only becomes business actors but also agents of social and environmental change. Graduates of this program are expected to play roles as independent entrepreneurs, business designers, SME mentors, and even intrapreneurs capable of bringing the spirit of entrepreneurship into the organizations where they work. UT believes that investing in quality entrepreneurship education is key to creating a more independent, equitable, and sustainable economic future for Indonesia.
