Universitas Terbuka, April 28, 2025 – The Quality Assurance Office (KPM) of Universitas Terbuka (UT) held a discussion on the Template and Timeline of the International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE) Self-Assessment Report (SAR) at the KPM Meeting Room, DAAK Building, 2nd Floor. This activity marks a crucial initial step in UT’s efforts to obtain certification from ICDE in 2026.
ICDE accreditation is a prestigious international recognition in the field of open and distance education, which will not only strengthen UT’s position on the global stage but also increase stakeholders’ confidence in the quality of education provision at UT.
The activity was attended by the Head of KPM, the Academic Quality Assurance Manager, and all members of the 2026 ICDE Self-Assessment Report (SAR) Drafting Team. In his directions, the Head of KPM, Prof. Imam, emphasized the importance of timeliness and quality in the preparation of the SAR document. Based on ICDE’s guidelines, the Self-Assessment Report must be submitted no later than December 31, 2025. The initial meeting with ICDE is scheduled before February 15, 2026, the contract signing between UT and ICDE must be completed before March 20, 2026, and the review process by the ICDE team will take place between May and August 2026.
“Our target is to have all SAR documents completed by the end of October 2025. This requires solid cooperation, a deep understanding of ICDE standards, and discipline in following the timeline,” said Prof. Imam. “The more organized and timely we work, the greater UT’s chances of achieving the best results.” During the discussion session, one of the ICDE SAR drafting team members, Mr. Ake, emphasized the importance of linking the SAR theme with the university’s strategic direction.
“The theme for the SAR preparation must align with UT’s Long-Term Development Plan (RPJP) or Strategic Plan (Renstra). At a minimum, we must prepare three to four relevant themes, and all team members must understand the content of the RPJP or Renstra for the next five years. The RPJP can be downloaded from the UT website,” explained Mr. Ake. During the discussion, the team also discussed the structure of the SAR template to be used, the division of tasks among members, and the technical schedule for reviewing and finalizing the document. With a shared understanding and high commitment from the entire team, KPM is optimistic that it can complete the SAR preparation according to the target.
Through this activity, UT once again affirms its commitment to continuously improve the quality standards of open and distance education, expand international recognition, and provide high-quality educational services to all communities in Indonesia and the world.
