South Tangerang, February 25, 2025 – Universitas Terbuka (UT) once again demonstrated its leadership in the implementation of Open and Distance Higher Education (PTTJJ) in Indonesia. This time, UT received a visit from Universitas Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) for a comparative study related to best practices in teaching material development. This meeting, which took place at UT Central, South Tangerang, Banten, was an important moment for both institutions to share experiences and enhance strategic collaboration synergy in the era of educational digitalization.
This visit was attended by representatives from both universities, including the Head of the UT Sub-Directorate of Partnership and International Affairs, Ing. Mohamad Rajih Radiansyah, B.AS., M.Sc., UT Professor of Educational Technology, Prof. Dr. R. Benny Agus Pribadi, M.A., and Deputy Director 2 for Non-Academic Affairs of the UT Postgraduate School, Dr. Shine Pintor Siolemba Patiro, S.T., M.M. From ULM, Prof. Dr. Hamsi Mansur, S.Pd., M.PPd., along with a number of lecturers and students who were enthusiastic to learn from UT’s experience.
The event opened with remarks from Mohamad Rajih Radiansyah, M.Sc., who expressed his appreciation to ULM for this comparative study initiative. He emphasized that as a university with the largest number of students implementing a distance learning system, UT is always committed to maintaining and improving the quality of teaching materials to ensure an optimal learning experience for students. “Because we are distance-based, the quality of teaching materials is the main key. That’s what we always maintain and improve,” said Rajih.
The Coordinator of the ULM Master of Educational Technology, Prof. Dr. Hamsi Mansur, S.Pd., M.PPd., in his speech expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome from UT. Prof. Hamsi acknowledged that UT has become a pioneer in the implementation of Open and Distance Higher Education (PTTJJ) in Indonesia and its quality is recognized, especially in the development of teaching materials. “We hope this visit can provide insights and inspiration for ULM to continue to develop quality teaching materials,” said Prof. Hamsi.
As part of the comparative study, the ULM delegation was invited to see firsthand the teaching material production and distribution process at UT. They visited the Multimedia Learning Material Production Center (P2BAM) and the Learning Material Service Center (PUSLABA), where they witnessed how teaching materials are developed, from the research stage, material preparation, to the distribution process to students throughout Indonesia.
ULM’s visit to UT is proof that universities in Indonesia are increasingly aware of the importance of digitalization in education. UT, which has adopted a technology-based distance learning model (online lectures) earlier, is ready to share knowledge and experience to improve the quality of national education. Through this positive collaboration and synergy, it is hoped that more universities will adopt digital learning methods to produce a generation ready to face the challenges of the digital era.
