Proposing Entrepreneurial University, Heru Graduates From Management Doctor’s Program of UT

Pondok Cabe, February 10, 2025 – Universitas Terbuka (UT) once again made academic achievements by holding an Open Dissertation Examination for Management Doctor’s Program of the Postgraduate School. The session, held on Monday, February 10, 2025, at the Rasamala Room, Wisma II Universitas Terbuka, featured a dissertation presentation by Heru Wijayanto Aripradono, a student from UT Bandung.

Heru presented his research entitled “Integration of Learning Technology Mediated by Human Resource Development, the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, and Business Incubators Towards an Entrepreneurial University”. This research carries the concept of transforming universities into more entrepreneurial institutions, able to adapt to global changes, and contribute to socio-economic development through innovation and technology.

The session was chaired by Prof. Dr. Maman Rumanta, M.Si., Director of the UT Postgraduate School, with session secretary Dr. Eka Pariyanti, S.E., M.M. The examining committee consisted of a number of leading academics and professionals, including Prof. Dr. Anang Kistyanto, S.Sos., M.Si. (Universitas Negeri Surabaya) and Prof. Dr. H. Abdul Rahman Rahim, S.E., M.M. (Universitas Terbuka). The promoter team was also present, led by Prof. Dr. Idayanti Nursyamsi, S.E., M.Si., with members Dr. H. Abdul Wahab, S.E., M.Si. (UIN Alauddin Makassar) and Dr. Zulkifli Sultan, S.E., M.M. (Universitas Terbuka).

In her remarks, Prof. Dr. Idayanti Nursyamsi highlighted the novelty of this research. “This dissertation raises the importance of integrating learning technology in driving the transformation of universities into entrepreneurial universities. Although the concept of an entrepreneurial university has been known since 1983, research that integrates learning technology, human resource development (HRD), the tri dharma of higher education, and business incubators is still very limited, especially in Indonesia,” she said.

This research emerged as a response to global challenges that require universities to adapt and contribute to socio-economic development through the transfer of knowledge, technology and innovation. Prof. Idayanti added, “The low human capital score and the number of entrepreneurs in Indonesia are major challenges. The integration of learning technology is expected to strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem through HRD, the tri dharma of higher education, and business incubators.”

The event was also attended by a number of officials and distinguished guests, consisting of: Ir. Kristanti Ambar Puspitasari, M.Ed., Ph.D. (Deputy Director I for Academic Affairs of the UT Postgraduate School), Dr. Shine Pintor Siolemba Patiro, S.T., M.M. (Deputy Director II for Non-Academic Affairs), and Martino Wibowo, S.E., M.Si., Ph.D. (Head of the Doctoral Program in Management Science). Also attending this activity were representatives from various institutions, such as Dr. Meiliana Suparman (Vice Rector 1 of Batam International University), Dessy Aliandrina, Ph.D. (SociopreneurID), Heribertus Suharyanto, Clarissa Amadhea, Yundi Christine, DR. Eng. Niki Prastomo, S.T., M.Sc. (Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Multimedia Nusantara University), Helena Rebecca Wulanri Tangkilisan, S.E., M.Si. and Tanty Dewi Permassanty, S.Sos., M.M. (Multi-Surya University), DR. Eng. Odi Akhyarsi (Nusa Putra University), Aditya Dedi (PT. Digital Fajar Buana), and Ari Handiningsih (Independent Learning Campus). Also present at the open session was Dr. Teguh Prakoso, S.Pd., M.Hum., Director of UT Serang, and his staff. Their presence further emphasized the importance of inter-institutional collaboration in driving the transformation of higher education in Indonesia.

Heru’s research is expected to have a significant impact on company performance, particularly in the evaluation of Return on Assets (ROA) and Price to Book Value (PBV). In addition, this research is also expected to moderate the influence of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) on company performance.

With the holding of this session, Universitas Terbuka once again reaffirmed its commitment to encouraging innovation and transformation of higher education in Indonesia. This research is expected to be the first step towards creating a strong and sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystem in the country.
