UT for all! UT Graduates Inspirational Figures during its Graduation Ceremony 

As a student, the graduation ceremony is one of highly awaited moments. It is an academic ceremonial tradition, marking the end of the student’s journey of learning in a university.  This year, Universitas Terbuka (UT) held a graduation ceremony for the second period, Area I, the academic year 2023/2024, at Universitas Terbuka Convention Center (UTCC), on Tuesday, July 16, 2024. 

1,800 graduates participated in this graduation ceremony, including the bachelor and the postgraduate students. The event was themed “Crafting a Quality Future, Advancing Globally with UT.” As it should be, the theme is not just words but also includes positive hopes for facing another chapter for them after finishing their studies at UT. 

During this ceremony, there was a memorable experience where Hj. Sri Yusriani, S.I.Kom, M.M., from the Master of Management Department with Human Resource Specialization at UT Overseas achieved the certificate as the best graduate. Moreover, there were also some inspirational graduates, namely, (1) the Major General of TNI, Dr. Yenny Purnama, Sp.A.(K)., M.Kes., M.A.R.S., M.H.  who is also the Head of Health Center of TNI, from UT’s Law Department, (2) Mirza Riadiani Kesuma (Cicha Koeswoyo), who was known as a distinguished public figure, from UT’s Communication Science Department, and (3) Kamasean Yoce Matthews who was the Winner of Indonesian Idol 2002, from UT’s Law Department as well. 

This became a valuable moment for all graduates. The event continued with the alumni delegations by the Rector of UT to Ikatan Alumni Universitas Terbuka (IKA UT), represented by the Chairman IV of IKA UT, Major General of TNI (pensionary) Erro Kusnara, S.IP. 

The Rector of Universitas Terbuka, Prof. Ojat Darojat, M.Bus., Ph.D. congratulated the graduates that have finished their studies at UT in his remarks. He conveyed that UT has successfully opened broader educational access to Indonesians. Now, UT has 551,030 students along with 2,000,000 alumni. The rise of the number of students is not a final, but the most important is to be able to provide the international quality education service. UT has achieved a set of international accreditations, including International Quality Certification from ICDE as well as other International Accrediations for 4 Departments from FIBAA.  

This graduation ceremony was truly remarkable for the students who have dedicated and worked hard to pursue their studies at UT and to achieve the educational title for a brighter future. May UT graduates be ready to jump into the new chapter of their academic and professional journey to take part in developing nations and take a proud in their alma mater, for the advancement of Indonesia in Global
