Universitas Terbuka Held Academic Seminar as Part of the Second Period, Area I, Graduation Ceremony 

Universitas Terbuka (UT), as one of state universities in Indonesia, celebrated its 40th anniversary with an academic seminar held at the Universitas Terbuka Convention Center (UTCC). The event was part of the graduation ceremony for the Second Period, Area I, the academic year 2023/2024, themed “Crafting a Quality Future, Advancing Globally with UT.”  

Firmansyah, S.Kom., M.M., the Director of Academic Administration and Graduation, reported that 34,051 students graduated this period, with 25,733 in the first stage and 8,318 in the second stage. The seminar and graduation event saw the participation of 1,800 students. 

Dr. Mohamad Yunus, S.S., M.A., the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at UT, welcomed the prospective graduates and keynote speaker, Sri Yusriani, an alumna of UT’s Master of Management program and current Ph.D. student at Universiti Sains Malaysia. Dr. Yunus highlighted the importance of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to be signed with the Indonesian Kindergarten Teachers Association (IGTKI) aimed at enhancing the competencies of kindergarten teachers and increasing UT’s student to become one million. 

The MoU between UT and IGTKI covers education, research, community service, and regional development. The agreement was signed by UT Rector Prof. Ojat Darojat, M.Bus., Ph.D., and IGTKI Chair Nur Sriyati, S.Pd., M.M., focusing on undergraduate and graduate programs for early childhood education teachers. 

Sri Yusriani delivered a seminar titled “Crafting a Quality Future with SELF-EFFICACY: Sarah’s Strong Motivation Goes Global with UT.” The event also featured a talk session with UT’s Rector and Vice Rectors, moderated by Dr. Pardamean Daulay, S.Sos., M.Si., allowing students to share their experiences and interact directly with the university’s leadership. 

Mindarto Totok Oktaruna, a doctoral graduate in management from UT Batam, presented his dissertation book to the Rector. Additionally, A. Rachmat Wirawan, S.H., M.H., from the Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM), discussed the Tracer Study for improving educational quality and systems. Drs. Leles Sudarmanto Dipuro, MM., MBA., Secretary-General of the UT Alumni Association (IKA UT), provided information about the alumni network. 

The seminar marked a monumental occasion for both students and UT, reinforcing the university’s commitment to producing outstanding, competitive, and character-driven graduates, aligning with Indonesia’s vision for a golden generation by 2045.
