Universitas Terbuka (UT), as the 45th state university and a pioneer in Open and Distance Higher Education in Indonesia, continues to demonstrate its commitment to fulfilling the government’s mandate to increase the Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) in higher education. Currently, UT has 550,052 active students and aims to reach 850,000 students by 2024.

On Friday, June 7, 2024, UT welcomed a visit from the Head of Operations of Shanghai Moonton Co. Ltd. (Moonton), Mr. Li Jianwen. In his speech, the Vice-Rector stated that as the largest university in Indonesia, UT is pushing to reach its target of 850,000 students through the Tournament. The partnership with Moonton is a significant step towards achieving this goal. The tournament, which is UT’s first large-scale event of its kind, targets high school students across Indonesia. The partnership is expected to increase the number of participants, attract new prospective students, and raise public awareness about UT.

Mr. Li, in his remarks, expressed that the partnership is warmly welcomed, particularly in providing a platform for e-sports enthusiasts outside the professional level to compete through the MY-UT Tournament. This collaboration is also expected to ignite enthusiasm and competitiveness among the Tournament participants. He hopes the tournament will motivate students to excel and succeed in their education and careers.

Following the MoA signing, there was a gift exchange ceremony as a form of appreciation from Universitas Terbuka, followed by a group photo session. The event continued with an office tour. During the tour, Mr. Li visited the Multimedia and Learning Material Production Center (P2BAM) at UT. He expressed his admiration for the abundant learning resources UT provides to its students, such as the Main Learning Materials and the Virtual Reading Room, which students can access anytime and anywhere to maximize their learning. Additionally, Mr. Li explored the studio and radio rooms where digital learning materials and programs are produced for UT TV and UT Radio. He also visited the venue for MY-UT Tournament grand final event, Universitas Terbuka Convention Center (UTCC). During his visit to UTCC, he was highly impressed with UT’s strong commitment to organizing a large-scale tournament.

Overall, Mr. Li expressed immense gratitude and appreciation for UT’s capabilities, professionalism, and high spirit in achieving its goals as the largest university in Indonesia, especially in providing Open and Distance Higher Education.
