Universitas Terbuka (UT) has once again demonstrated its commitment to public communication management by participating in the selection process for the Diktisaintek Public Relations Awards 2025 in the social media category. For this occasion, the UT public relations team has undergone a crucial assessment interview session, which is an important part of the prestigious award’s selection process.
The interview was conducted objectively with a panel of judges consisting of communication practitioners and ministry representatives. Via a Zoom connection, the UT public relations team presented various innovations, communication strategies, and achievements attained in supporting information openness, promoting higher education, and enhancing the image of the technology-based university. In their presentation, UT emphasized the active role of public relations in building two-way communication with the public, students, and stakeholders. Various flagship programs, such as strengthening digital branding, publishing academic achievements, and participating in social activities, were showcased as tangible evidence of an adaptive and innovative public relations performance. The Rector of UT, Prof. Dr. Ali Muktiyanto, M.Si., was also present via Zoom during the assessment series for the Diktisaintek Public Relations Awards 2025.
Through this event, it is hoped that best practices in public relations will emerge that can serve as a role model for other educational institutions. UT’s participation in this event is an important momentum to continually improve the quality of public communication and strengthen its role as a leading open and distance learning university at national and global levels. UT’s involvement in this event is not only a platform to showcase its communication strategies and institutional achievements but is also aligned with UT’s commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This is consistent with:
- SDG 4 Quality Education: UT provides equitable, open, and inclusive access to higher education for all segments of society.
- SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure: Through innovation in distance learning technology and the digitalization of services, UT strengthens the technology-based education ecosystem.
- SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities: UT’s open education system enables marginalized groups, workers, and communities in remote areas to still have the opportunity to attend college.
Thus, UT’s participation in the Diktisaintek Public Relations Awards 2025 not only affirms its role in the field of communication and public relations but also demonstrates its real contribution to the achievement of the SDGs in Indonesia. The Diktisaintek Public Relations Awards, organized by the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology (Ditjen Diktisaintek), is an annual event to recognize higher education institutions capable of managing public relations strategically, transparently, and competitively. UT’s participation in this event is expected to further strengthen the role of public relations as the frontline in establishing public communication, building a positive image, and supporting academic and non-academic achievements at national and international levels.
