Universitas Terbuka Jumps to 35th on UI GreenMetric 2024 and Achieved The Most Active University Award!

Bandung, December 17, 2024 – Universitas Terbuka (UT) got the most prestigious achievement of 2024. As a concrete contribution to achieving SDGs, UT achieved an incredible milestone at the end of 2024 through the UI GreenMetric 2024. UT managed to reach the 35th place in the most sustainable university, punching significantly higher than the previous year’s 46th place. Internationally, UT made a huge leap from 513th place to 301st place this year. 

UI GreenMetric is a prestigious annual award by Universitas Indonesia (UI) which aims to appreciate universities committed to SDGs. This year, the event titled “UI GreenMetric National University Rankings” was held at Universitas Padjadjaran, with a hybrid format. 183 Universities from Indonesia and 1477 universities from 95 countries participated as well. This event was also a platform for collaboration and strategic discussions through the seminar, workshops, and UMKM booths.  

During the discussion session, participants explored a few important topics. The first one discusses UI GreenMetrics Network, eco-enzyme app, and online courses, whiloe the second one discusses energy, climate change, tech on campus environment, and community service. 

UT’s achievement is completed by the special award of The Most Active University in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings – Indonesia. This award is received by UT representative, Mirza Permana. In his remarks, he expressed his gratitude for this award. He also expressed that this award is one of key indicators in UT’s transformation towards World Class University 

As a pioneer of open and distance learning, UT keeps improving innovation to support online learning and integrate sustainability on every operational aspect. UT is proud to be part of the transformation of Indonesia’s green universities. With the slogan “faster, cheaper, better”, this is UT’s guide to giving the best education service for the people. 

This achievement proves UT’s commitment to SDGs, especially SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 9, (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), and SDG 13 (Climate Action). UT commits to innovate, strengthen its position as an environmentally friendly campus, and contribute to sustainable development in Indonesia.
