To Encounter the era of industry revolution 4.0 and to enhance the learning capacity and quality delivery with the open and distance learning system, Universitas Terbuka stays innovative and synergized with diverse parties nationally and internationally. Spectacularly, UT established an international collaboration with Seongnam City, South Korea. On May 3, 2024, UT delegations, led by UT Rector, Prof. Ojat Darojat, M.Bus., Ph.D., welcomed directly by the Mayor of Seongnam City, Shin, Sang-Jin. Moreover, the Vice Mayor of Seongnam City, Lee, Jin Chan, and the Director General of Office Administrative Planning & Coordination, Lee, Jeong Moon.

The mayor of Seongnam City highly appreciated and warmly welcomed the visitation of UT delegations in the Seongnam City Hall Office to collaborate. During the opportunity, UT Rector delivered his gratitude for the exceptional greeting by the Mayor of Seongnam City and presented the purpose of UT visitation, which was to establish further partnership and collaboration between UT and the government of Seongnam City. Prof. Ojat stated that UT will learn many things, including the management of Seongnam City as a technology-based city.

A form of collaboration is as follows: the implementation of an internship program for the selected UT students to extend their knowledge about the use of advanced technology in Pangyo Techno Valley, the distinguished technology development center in South Korea. Furthermore, UT faculties plan to develop joint research with Seongnam Research Institute (SnRI) regarding the latest technology implementation for the business process of UT and the enhancement of a better learning service for students. In addition, Prof. Ojat also explained to the Mayor of Seongnam City the experience during the visit of UT to South Korea for several days. Prof. Ojat expressed his gracefulness for his knowledge extension to the management of the organization. UT delegations learned more about the importance of technology implementation in the future for operational systems in academic and non-academic management. UT learnt many things during this collaboration initiation to develop UT for becoming better more, by benchmarking to Chungbuk National University (CBNU), Yeungnam University, Korea Research Institute of Vocational Educational Training (KRIVET), Seoul National University (SNU), Korea National Open University (KNOU), Seoul Digital University (SDU), and Korea Local Finance Association (LOFA), so it develops the extensive insights to improve UT.
