University Academic Senate (SAU) possesses functions for policy establishment, providing consideration, and supervision in academic affairs. SAU holds the authority for the following things:
- Establishing academic policies regarding the curriculum of study programs; requirements of launching, revision, and termination of study programs; requirements of academic degree awarding; and requirements of awarding of honorary doctoral degree as well as other academic awards.
- Establishing policies and supervising academic freedom, academic platform freedom, and science autonomy.
- Establishing policies and supervising academic norms, ethics, and academic regulations.
- Providing recommendation of penalties for infractions of norms, ethics, and academic regulations by academics to the Rector.
- Supervising implementation of academic regulations by the Rector.
- Supervising and evaluating academic work rate.
- Providing approval to the Rector regarding the proposal of Head Lectors and Professors.
- Providing recommendations for awarding or removal of honorary doctoral degrees.
- Providing approval for launching, revision, and termination of study programs.
- Providing consideration of establishment, merging, and/or disbandment of faculties, schools, and/or departments
- Arranging and approving blueprints of the amendment of Statuta UT with Board of Trustees and Rector
