In order to strengthen the ties of good relationship or silaturahmi and to celebrate this year’s Eid Al-Fitr or Hari Raya Idul Fitri 1442 H, Indonesia Open University or Universitas Terbuka (UT) organized a post-Ramadan fasting gathering, called halal bi halal, with its Partner Banks and the scholarship-receiving students online through Zoom application and Channel YouTube UT-TV (31/05/2021). The program was also attended by two speakers, the UT’s Alumni of English Literature Department who graduated in 2018, Yulianti Suryawardhani Yudo and Digital Marketer Indonesia, the CEO & Founder of Tribelio.com & Bonnels.id, Denny Santoso.
The event was opened by the remarks of Prof. Ojat Darojat, M.Bus., Ph.D. In this opportunity, he thanked the Partner Banks (Bank BRI, Bank BTN and Bank Mandiri) for the scholarship awards provided to approximately 1,682 UT’s students in 32 Distance Learning Education Units (UPBJJ). He added that the current structure of UT’s students are no longer dominated by working, professional students, but many of them are fresh graduates who just finished their high school, both public senior high school and vocational senior high schools, including those who are awarded the scholarships from the Partner Banks. This halal bi halal event was held in order not only to strengthen the cooperation between UT and the partner banks, but also to greet the UT’s students, especially the scholarship grantees.
Furthermore, the representatives from the Partner Banks gave their speeches. They are the Branch Manager of Bank BTN, Ciputat Branch, Vice President for Government & Institutional 1 Group of Bank Mandiri, and Vice President for Institutional Division of Bank BRI.
As a UT’s alumni, Yulianti Suryawardhani Yudo, explained the reasons that she chose to study at UT. While she was then working, she wanted to pursue her study and UT is the university which is not restricting in terms of both time and place. Other reasons are including that UT is a state university that does not have age restriction for its students, it is open for all high school graduates or equal levels of education with any, the students are studying independently and disciplined as well as it makes the students get used to with the technology. Yulianti is a UT’s scholarship awardee in semester 8. She is currently doing her Master program in Portugal under Erasmus Mundus scholarship program.
The Digital Marketer Indonesia, Denny Santoso share his thoughts on “ways to startup business for the youths.” Denny said that prior to starting a business, it is essential to find the solutions for the problem to be faced, both internally and externally. Further, the financial life goal should be set. One of the most important things is to know what our strengths and weaknesses. Denny Santoso is also an author and writer. One of his books that he writes is List Building Black Book.
The program continued with taking photograph and socialization of UT Web to the external parties by the Coordinator for Institutional Development and Public Relations, Meirani Harsasi, S.E., M.Si. In conclusion, the UT’s Vice Rector for Institutional Development and Partnership Affairs, Rahmat Budiman, S.S., M.Hum., Ph.D. expressed his gratitude to UT’s Rector, the Partner Banks, and the speakers. He also gave some motivation to the student awardees.
