UT Held Certificate of Graduation Presentation Ceremony and Socialization Program of UT Education Services in Qatar, Oman, and Bahrain

In order to introduce Indonesia Open University or Universitas Terbuka (UT) and optimize UT student services abroad, UT Rector, Prof. Ojat Darojat, M.Bus., Ph.D., accompanied by Head of the Center for Overseas Student Management or Pusat Pengelolaan Mahasiswa Luar Negeri (PPMLN), Dra. Dewi Artati Padmo Putri, M.A., Ph.D., has met the request of UT’s student association and the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia in three Middle East countries in by holding the Certificate of Graduation Presentation Ceremony or Upacara Penyerahan Ijazah (UPI). The events were held in Oman, Qatar, and Bahrain from 18 to 25 December 2019.

The first activity was conducted in Oman (19/12/2019). In this event, a meeting was held among UT Rector, Head of the Center for Overseas Student Management or Pusat Pengelolaan Mahasiswa Luar Negeri (PPMLN) and the Ambassador of ROI for Oman, Musthofa Taufik Abdul Latif, who was also accompanied the Official of Information and Social And Cultural Section of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (Pensosbud KBRI) at Muscat-Oman as well as the Executive Board of UT-Oman Students Association. The meeting was held at KBRI Muscat-Oman.

This activity was followed by the socialization and education on UT in two regions, Sohar and Muscat. The socialization program was held at Radisson Hotel, and attended by 50 Indonesian citizens. On the following day, (20/12/2019), the socialization and education on UT was held in Muscat at the Office of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) Muscat which was attended by 36 Indonesian nationals who live in Muscat.

On 21-22 December 2019, The Ceremony of Certificate of Graduation Presentation of Upacara Penyerahan Ijazah (UPI) to 10 UT graduates was held in Qatar. At the same opportunity, cooperation agreement (PKS) was signed by UT Rector and the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia for Qatar. The programs were also UT socialization and promotion for Indonesian in Qatar. UPI ceremony was attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia for Qatar, Air Marshal TNI (Ret.) Muhammad Basri Sidehabi, UT Rector, the Official of Information and Social And Cultural Section of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (Pensosbud KBRI) Doha-Qatar, Meity Suhariah, all the Officials  at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia or KBRI Doha, Head of the Center for Overseas Student Management or Pusat Pengelolaan Mahasiswa Luar Negeri (PPMLN), the Executive Board of UT Student Learning Group or Pokjar UT-Qatar, UT students in Qatar, the families of the graduates, and Indonesians living in Doha-Qatar. In this opportunity, the Ambassador of ROI for Qatar expects that the cooperation between UT and KBRI Doha can be well maintained and he expects that UT would continue to serve the people of Indonesia in Qatar. In the same opportunity, UT Rector expressed that UT would continue to endeavor to provide better services so it may improve the number of Indonesian people who are interested in pursuing their education with UT.

UT socialization and education were then conducted at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia of KBRI-Manama Bahrain (23/12/2019). The activity began with the opening speech presented by the Ambassador of ROI for Bahrain, Nur Syahrir Rahardjo, and furthermore, it was followed by the presentation on UT introduction to the people of Indonesia given by Head of the Center for Overseas Student Management or Pusat Pengelolaan Mahasiswa Luar Negeri (PPMLN).

UT socialization and education in Oman, Qatar, and Bahrain were welcomed by all the students and the people of Indonesia who are now living in the countries.
