Dean of FEKON (Faculty of Economy)

This Dean of FEKON-UT lives by the motto “Working is a form of WORSHIP, so WORK in earnest...” At almost 51, his love to eat Javanese Noodles (mie Jawa). The first born of five siblings from the family of Wiryo Dimejo from Klaten, married Eko Yuluastuti, and is blessed with one son and one daughter who are in High School and Elementary School respectively.

Before joining UT, this man who likes to eat noodles worked at the Bank Nasional in Bukit Tinggi and since early 1987, started lecturing at Universitas Terbuka. Not only is he a competent lecturer, Drs. Yun Iswanto, M.Si., has numerous organizational experiences such as the time he was the Head of ISEI-UT branch from 1995-1996.

The childhood years of this man who always adheres closely to his religious teachings were mostly spent in Klaten and Solo, where he attended Elementary School until High School. In 1985, he completed his Undergraduate Degree in Management at the Faculty of Economy of the Universitas Pembangunan Nasional (UPN), Yogyakarta. In 2001, ia completed his Master’s Program in Human Resources Management (MSDM) at Universitas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta.

He began his career in UT by becoming a member of the UT Testing Staff. From 1987 till 1992, this man who likes red was Head of UT’s Examination Results Processing Department. He then went on to become the Head of the Management Study Program from 1996-1997, and then Vice-Rector III from 2001 to 2005. This lover of teaching then became Vice-Dean I of UT’s Faculty of Economy from 2005 to 2006.

Since 2005 up to now, he is the Dean of the UT’s Faculty or Economy. When asked for his comment on UT, he said “UT is one among government institutions that has succeeded in consistently implementing Good and Clean Governance”.

Some of his experiences where he employed his expertise were when he:

1. Gave a presentation at UT’s IV Period Graduation Day Seminar in 2000 entitled “New Paradigm in Managing Diversity in the Work Place, November 20, 2000.
2. Wrote an article in the Indonesian Study Journal entitled: “An Analysis on Occupational Stress, Human Character, Bank Managerial Performance, Vol, No. 12, March 2001.
3. Gave a presentation in a seminar conducted by the Faculty of Economy entitled “Competitive Excellence and Creating Strategic Value in Global Competition”, May 15, 2001.
4. Gave a presentation in a seminar conducted by the Faculty of Economy on “the Impact of Culture on Performance Management” – July 23, 2002.
5. Gave a presentation in a seminar conducted by the Faculty of Economy entitled “The Relationship between service quality, satisfaction and student re-registration”, October 20, 2003.
6. Wrote an article in the Open and Distance Learning Journal entitled “The Level of Student Satisfaction on Services Rendered to Students”, Vol. 4 No. 2, Septem,er 2003.
7. Presented a paper in a UT Institutional Seminar at the UPBJJ- Bogor: “The Implication of a Shifting Paradigm in Human Resources Development”.
8. Wrote an article in the Organization and Management Journal, Vol. 1, No. 1, September 2005 entitled “The Relevance of Culture on the Implementation of Human Resources Management”.
9. Gave a presentation at the UT Graduation Seminar in 2005 entitled “ A Strategy in Global Competition Through Competitive Excellence and Creating Values”.
10. Gave his report on his research entitled “The Effect of Service Quality and Students’ Satisfaction regarding the Aim of Students’ Re-registration” which was discussed in a UT Faculty of Economy Seminar.
11. Wrote a book on Change Management for the Undergraduate Study Program of UT in 2000.
12. Wrote a book on Human Resources Management for the Undergraduate Study Program in UT on 2002.
13. Wrote a book on Human Resources Management for the Post-Graduate Program in UT in 2003.
14. Conducted a research on the “Cost of UT Employees’ Absenteeism” in 2006.
15. Gave a presentation in a national seminar at UT’s National Coordinating Meeting entitled The Role Of Distance Learning in the Millennium Goals in 2007.
16. Gave a paper presentation in a national seminar during the Deanship Forum Meeting of Faculties of Economy from all over Indonesia at UT in 2008 entitled “Management of the Faculty of Economy through Distance Learning”.
17. Wrote the Basic Principles Book for Human Resources Management for the Undergraduate Program of the FEKON-UT in 2008.
18. Conducted a seminar of a research of UT on organizational conflict in 2008.
19. Was Head of the Editorial Board of the Organization and Management Journal published by LPPM-UT since 2002 up to the present.
